on my third steamer
I'd used steamers on wedding gowns for years and was glad to have made the decision to have my own. I used a travel steamer for a while which worked pretty good but of course it can't hold much water. My second one was a Conair. It was the one that has a pause feature and an insulated hose that won't get hot and the retractable cord. It worked great for a few years and finally just stopped working. I though I might try upgrading to less plastic and did a lot of research. I don't know why others don't have the pause feature because I loved that! And the retractable cord was great. I didn't realize some steamers get so hot you have to be very careful not to touch the hose. Having to use a mitt seems ridiculous. I read all the reviews and ordered a Jiffy. What a disappointment! Such good reviews and so little steam. It didn't push out steam near as well as my old Conair. I'd ordered it online thru Costco but I packed it right back up and took it back to Costco. Then I chatted with the...
Dangerous piece of equipment
We purchased this steamer last year. Unfortunately, the pole on this model is poorly designed. The screw that holds both poles in place is too short. As a result, the pole will not stand-up properly. Very dangerous piece of equipment. Do not buy until pole design has been changed.
great steamer
I reviewed a lot of steamers here and found this to be the best for my needs. This unit is built nice and I have not had any problems with it. As with most steamers on amazon the hose could be a little longer but this one works fine for most applications. I also enjoy the wood handle.
Remember steamers do not work like an iron so dont expect it to be as good. It does get rid of wrinkles but takes slightly longer. This works great for vertical fabrics like curtains, background material (for photography) or clothes on a hanger. I have also used this to steam fondant on my wife's cakes. A slight steam on it produces a nice shine.
This unit is pretty light weight so keep the water bottle filled to provide more stability.
