The Longest "10 Minutes" Ever
After a year, I'm going back to a different coffee maker. This Bunn takes forever to brew a pot of coffee. It's ok if you're one of those very organized people who can remember to set up the Bunn the night before to brew automatically before you wake up, but for people like me, who stumble to the coffee pot in the morning and need some as quickly as possible, it's a pain.
The Phase Brew takes so long because it heats all the water up to the right temp before sending any of it through the coffee grounds, but, honestly, while that all sounds good, I can't tell one bit of difference between all the water being heated up first, and any other coffee pot that simply sends the water through as it is heating. I think it's just a gimmick and a selling point that actually means very little for the consumer.
Another problem is that the "clean" indicator, that tells when the maker needs to be cleaned, goes off all the time. As other long-term users review this brewer,...
Never knew I needed this...
Since living in Colorado I had fallen into a pattern without really realizing it. I would wake up, make coffee, heat my cup with warm water to pre-warm it, then pour coffee in the cup and reheat it in the microwave for 30 secs to get it to a pleasurable drinking temperature... This has been the process for about 3 coffee makers I have had.
With the BUNN I noticed immediately the coffee was not only hotter, it was less bitter. I am still within two weeks of initial operation so will do an update if I notice anything. The coffee seems to stay hotter while in the pot as well.
A note on timing, I don't know the speed of the others but this does not seem to be that much longer. I have been using the auto start function without any issues. The only issue with the Auto Start in my opinion is you have to set it every night. The only other issue I have noted is that with my other coffee makers I could pull the pot and the drip would stop allowing me to pour the...
Finally, Hot Coffee
Bought this appliance after trying numerous other coffee makers. We live at high altitude (7000 ft) and could never get really hot coffee. This one actually works and we've had no other problems with it. Takes a little longer to heat up the water but definitely worth it. Would recommend.
Update: Unit quit working in Sep 2013. Wife was going to discard it but called Bunn customer service and found out that there was a 3 year warranty! Great surprise. We got our new coffee maker today (great customer service and quick replacement) and look forward to enjoying hot coffee again! Would definitely recommend.
