Honeywell True HEPA Allergen Remover

VERY quiet, energy efficient, but for small rooms, not medium
There's really two things that I care about when I evaluate something like a HEPA filter: how well it works, how much it costs to operate. This Honeywell device does great on the first, and is better than average for the second.

How well it works
------------------
* I've had lots of air filters over the years, but this one is even quieter than my Hamilton Beach on "Whisper Quiet" setting. This thing is remarkably quiet. Absolutely fantastic.
* It's tough to evaluate the actual allergen removal of this device, since I don't really have a way to measure it before and after. I do have a dust allergy, but it wasn't bothering me before I set up the filter, so adding the filter won't tell me much.
* I put this device in my cat's litter box room and there is definitely a noticeable difference in the odor, but that's not what the allergen remover is really marketed for, so I really am not holding it to a high standard.
* There's also the minor...

CLeaner air nice for bedrooms.
Having many allergies and asthma I have had many HEPA filters and Honeywell's have always been the best. I keep 2 in my basement family room year round. This unit is in my bedroom I have it running on Allergen and Turbo and it really is moving the air in just 1 hour I went back in and I can tell a difference, just feels fresher. It is too loud for me to run on high to sleep by so I plan to run it during the day and turn it off at night. The controls on the top are very easy to use and read. The unit has a 5 year warranty which is really good for an item in this price point. I have Honeywell units well over 10 yrs old still going strong.

I have had many doctors over the years tell me that I must have HEPA filters in the home. The elecrostatic ones just don't do it for me. I look forward to less sneezing as I was needing to replace my bedroom unit that died some months back.

Watch for sales on the HEPA and pre-filters as they do get costly over the years but the...

You Have Got To Be Kidding - This Small For That Price.. Cmon
I have a bunch of the big honeywell hepa filters and two other brands Winix and Fellows that I have in various rooms in the house. I have some furry creatures and my house must sit in a pollen farm.

This is so small thats its almost useless. On the higher modes it will circulate some air so it does do some work but here is the design problem.

1. It could have been half this size. How you say? The hepa filter itself is the size of a large post card. No Im not joking.

2. The build quality is well..... very inexpensive. Plastic flexes and filter cover which is almost the entire front keeps popping off hitting the floor.

My other honewell units are the larger round ones and they are AWESOME but loud. For twenty bucks less at current pricing you could get a real filter and be happy. Model 50150 or the 50250 for a little more than this one.

If you want one for the bedroom and need some quiet any of the Winix are great, but the...
